Deadzone Enforcers Plastics Review

Friday, January 2nd, 2015

So the final shipment of Deadzone Kickstarter stuff arrived, bringing in one of the kits I was most interested in, that being the Plastic Enforcers.  The initial run of Plastic/Resin combo miniatures had already arrived and they are ok, but that material isn’t the best to work with.  This kit comes with two sprues that create 5 figures.

Sprue 1

Sprue 1

Each sprue has a set of legs and a torso that have been lettered so you can easily identify the core parts that go together.  Unfortunately, there aren’t instructions / fully number and identified parts.  For some, this isn’t an issue, for others it might be, you can take that for what it’s worth.  Personally, I like seeing that sort of thing with kits, and part of me doesn’t care cause I can make whatever I want!

The quality of the plastic is great and the sculpts for these figures are pretty nice.  You have the ability to create multiples of the Assault Enforcers or regular Enforcers but not the special weapons.  These guys are fairly tall, for example the Assault Enforcer is 36MM from the bottom of his foot to his eyes.

The scale seems a bit big for the scale of the game, but at the same time, if they are large mechanized dudes, then it’s a decent fit.  Each of the figures went together well ad the joints for the limbs are a shallow round bubble structure with a matching dent on each limb.  This allows you to position/pose each model to some extent.

These sprues do have a single limitation that bummed me out, you can only create 1 special weapon per set of 2 sprues.  It’s a shame that there isn’t two of the left arm bits that go with the special weapons sprues, it would have made each set that much more versatile.

I really dig these guys, the figures are nice, the details are pretty good and the kits truly are much better than the plastic/resin kits that Mantic makes.  I’m glad that they are still pursuing proper plastic sprues and the quality has been improving with each one they make.  These guys will go well with the the other enforcers that are in plastic/resin and the kit sells for $19.99USD as of the time I’m writing this.  As I mentioned, I got these as part of the Deadzone Kickstarter, this was a late shipment from them, but it still arrived, so no complaints there.  If Mantic ever decides to work on it’s Warpath game, this army is sure to look pretty swell.

End of the year + Deadzone!

Sorry for not posting in awhile or doing much of anything hobby related, but this place becomes a ghost town when I’m not gaming.  I’ve been able to do a little bit of of work on getting Deadzone stuff prepped for us to play in the near future.  Also, I’m pretty excited to try out the next version of Kings of War now that the kickstarter finished up.  I also have been working on a better way to take photo’s and post them here, but I’ve yet to post anything here yet, hopefully the next batch of images will look even more sharp than before.  With that said, until next year!  Here’s some pictures of things I’ve been working on.

Last post of 2013…I think…

Sorry for the lack of posts lately, I’ve been busy doing non-gaming stuff, like this, and a vacation, and the holidays, and probably all sorts of other things I’m forgetting.  That said, I’m wrapping up work on the Arcade Project and will be focusing back on miniatures, since my Deadzone kickstarter arrived.  It’s been sitting until recently, and I finally got around to digging into the box.  I’ve been reading the rulebook here and there, but I’m trying to finish one thing before I get too much into another, of which I have a bad habit of doing.  So, I finally spent some time building a few of the Enforcers, which I think will be the faction I use, solely based on how they look.  The rebels might be a close second.  Once I build/paint some of these and play some rounds, I’ll put up a review of the game.
